Position Summary:
Reporting to the Programs and Engagement Manager, this full-time, nonexempt position works collaboratively with Foothills Art Center personnel to create, plan, and coordinate education programming experiences to meet the needs of visitors, members, students, and school groups which enhance individual in-gallery experiences to participation in larger programs, and/or tailored experiences.
Responsibilities:
The Education Coordinator, under supervision and in collaboration with the Programs and Engagement Manager will help create, plan, and execute education programming for broad and diverse audiences presented in various formats. Audiences include but are not limited to youth, adult, family, and multigenerational audiences with primary focus on summer camps, school break workshops, teen workshops, afterschool workshops, and youth outreach.
Foothills Art Center operates out of two buildings. The education building – Creative Campus at 809 15th Street and the exhibitions building – Astor House at 1133 Arapahoe St. The Education Coordinator will be the point of staff at Creative Campus on a weekly basis. Attend the weekly all staff meeting at Astor House. Attend bi-weekly education staff meetings at Creative Campus. Regularly program and maintain the Hands On Gallery at Astor House. Occasionally support the front desk at Astor House.
The Education Coordinator manages summer camp assistants including reporting, supply organization, preparation, and other responsibilities as determined by the Programs and Engagement Manager.
- Working with Education Assistants to help inventory, stock and organize supplies for summer camp programming
- Assisting as needed in completing set up forms for classes and responding to questions from education patrons
- Serve as backup instructor for classes, field trip workshops, and summer camps as needed
- Tracking attendance across multiple program categories and completing check requests for teacher payments
Administrative tasks will include:
- Sourcing, contracting, coordinating youth art instructors and ceramics instructors
- Email correspondence with youth, adult, and ceramics instructors – rosters, class reminders, payment requests
- Use Veevart CRM to create and maintain all class registrations
- Support marketing for all classes and workshops
- Order supplies as needed
Additionally, the Educator Coordinator will be expected to:
- Work with and support other staff on occasional nights and weekends.
- Support maintenance of buildings by taking out trash, light cleaning, organization, etc.
- Attend and support FAC events and openings
- Represent FAC at offsite events and meetings as needed
- Notify FAC personnel of building maintenance issues at the Creative Campus
- Report regularly on progress, achievements, obstacles, and difficulties
- Institutionalize policies, practices, and procedures through documentation and training of staff and volunteers
- Effectively utilize existing technology adopted by FAC to communicate and manage information
- Complete reasonable duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, ability to learn our Salesforce-based CRM software, and cloud-based communication, file management, and collaboration software.
- This position requires moderate physical activity, lifting 30+ lbs., and moving throughout the building.
- A person who is action-oriented, emotionally mature, and can work with a diverse hands-on staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a visual arts organization;
- Prior teaching experience;
- Studio management experience.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of two years proven leadership experience in education or museum setting is required along with strong writing, verbal, and public speaking skills needed for interacting with and providing excellent customer service to parents, educators, volunteers, staff, and other constituencies.
Aptitude for detail, self-motivation, and ability to work both independently as well as in a team setting to develop programs and materials.
Effective project and time management, organizational, teaching, and research skills are necessary along with a sound knowledge of informal education techniques and current trends in classroom and museum teaching strategies.
Demonstrated passion for the visual arts and arts education.

Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, nonexempt position earning an annualized salary range of $40,000-$46,000 in addition to a benefit package including health and dental plans, Simple IRA retirement plan, holiday, vacation and sick pay.
