Artist Statement.
I am passionate about creating, whether it’s a simple mud pie or intricate artwork. The magic of bringing something to life drives my artistic journey.
Inspired by the American West, my Kansas upbringing immersed me in nature and animals, shaping my artistic vision. My work blends cherished moments with a quest for semi-realism and detail.
Reflecting on a map by Lewis & Clark that notes “Innumerable Amounts of Buffalo,” I ponder the history and fauna that shaped my land. Recently, I’ve embraced the theme of “Imperfectly Imperfect,” celebrating rough lines and leaving flaws visible, finding beauty in their authenticity.
My creative process begins long before I enter the studio. I carefully consider my subjects, compositions, and mediums, aiming to convey the unique peace I associate with the prairie.
