Contemporary Still Life – Oil Painting

An event every week that begins at 3:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until March 23, 2023
This class aims to give students an understanding of the practice and history of still-life painting with oil. Drawing on impressionist techniques to modern-day painters, students will create their own contemporary twist on an age-old subject. The first class will demonstrate how to set up an underpainting by addressing the fundamentals of composition and proportion. The second class aims to introduce students to the basics of color theory, including hue vs. value, and how to set up a palette. This class is ideal for students new to oil painting or those who have a basic understanding and wish to delve deeper into painting from life.

March 16 & 23, 2023, from 3-6 pm in person at Foothills Art Center.
