Too Hot To Handle!
April Workshop

Classes: $60 for members, $85 for friends/nonmembers.
Thursday: April 3, 5:30pm-8:30pm

Do you love making mugs but wish you could practice your handle making skills without potentially messing up your hard work? This class has you covered! Too Hot To Handle will start you off with a pre-made clay cylinder that you can use to try out any of the handles you make. The instructor will walk students through attaching handles and trying some new and fun handle styles. Students can hone their handle making skills through pulling, coiling, or slab building. Additionally, this class will discuss ways to minimize the possibility of cracking at the handle-mug connection. Each cylinder will then be bisque fired, and students will go home with their very own handle library!

Cylinders will be small enough for you to pick up by each individual handle so you can really get a feel for how they will work on an object. All cylinders are prepared for students beforehand and we cannot accommodate requests for specific kinds of clay. Because handles have to sit for a while before attaching, the instructor will send out an idea document prior to class so you can look at examples and have ideas ready when you arrive.

A clay cylinder, clay for making handles, and tools are provided for this course.

All levels welcome, some experience making mugs/handles encouraged. Please contact Yen Chu at yen@foothillsartcenter.org with any questions.
