Advanced Cold Wax

During this intensive, informative, and upbeat workshop, you’ll explore your artistic voice and create cold wax and oil paintings that you are proud of! I’ll do several demos throughout the workshop, and you’ll receive lots of personal instruction to help you work through your paintings, get “out of your head,” and move forward in new and exciting ways. All in an encouraging, nurturing, and fun environment!

We’ll explore multiple techniques, including:
– Creating an exciting underpainting with acrylic paints
– Layering
– Making multiple textures
– Mark making
– Mixing colors that create harmony
– Stenciling
– Drawing into and on top of cold wax
– Glazing with cold wax
– Masking
– Creating patterns
– Editing for clarity
– Adding the final “jewelry”

We’ll also spend lots of time painting and evaluating your creations’ design, composition, and value. Additionally, you’ll get a list of questions to ask yourself to determine if your paintings are finished! You’ll walk away feeling confident about creating cold wax paintings that are YOU!

Students must be familiar with painting using cold wax medium.
