For nearly 30 years, she was an instrumental part of Foothills Art Center, dedicating her time, passion, and care to its growth and success. Her warmth, kindness, and love for the community will be dearly missed. In honor of her memory, her family requests donations be made to The Esther Papenfus Garden Fund at Foothills Art Center, ensuring her passion for nature and beauty continues to thrive. Get creative this February with our Collage Worksh Get creative this February with our Collage Workshops: Memory and Nostalgia led by artist @therealevassa Erika Vassallo! Dive into your collection of old photos and cherished papers and transform them into a one-of-a-kind collage. Explore composition, layering, and different adhesives while crafting a piece that tells your story. The fun begins on Saturday, February 1, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Foothills Art Center’s Hands On Gallery (1133 Arapahoe St.), with a second session on Saturday, February 15, from 10 AM to 12 PM at our Creative Campus (809 15th St.). Bring along any old papers or photos you’ve collected—copies work too if you’d rather keep the originals intact. There’s a $15 per month materials fee, and the instructor provides everything else you’ll need. Members can join both workshops for $50, while friends and non-members pay $90. Join us for An Inside Look at Reduction, a hands o Join us for An Inside Look at Reduction, a hands on ceramics class at Foothills Art Center Creative Campus in Golden, CO. This February session dives into reduction firing and glazing, giving students the opportunity to create pottery, mix glazes, and learn the safe operation of gas kilns. Dates: Sundays, February 2, 9, 16, 23 Time: 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm Location: 809 15th Street, Golden, CO This class includes glaze materials and a reduction firing at Judy Madison’s studio on the final day. Students can bring previously bisqued work made with high-fire clay for glazing and firing. Cost: $185 members | $210 nonmembers Open Studio is available on Saturdays from 9am-5pm for enrolled students. Previous ceramics experience is encouraged. Sign up for Hot Art: Basic Encaustic Techniques with Victoria Eubanks Two-Day Class February 1st & 2nd, 2025 Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM This class is open to all levels, and no prior experience is necessary. It’s the perfect introduction to encaustic art, designed to inspire your creativity and expand your skills. Over the course of two days, participants will learn a wide range of techniques, including understanding mediums and paint, prepping substrates, fusing wax, layering translucencies, creating textures, using stencils, mark making, and image transfer techniques. The workshop is hands-on and high-energy, giving you the opportunity to explore and experiment. By the end of the class, you’ll leave with beautiful, original art pieces you created yourself. The cost for the class is $290 for non-members and friends, or $260 for members. There is also a $35 materials fee, which is paid directly to the instructor, Victoria, who will provide all necessary supplies.
