The Art of Collage: Combining Text and Imagery

You’ve heard the saying a “A picture is worth 1000 words”. We are flipping it around and creating a “picture” with1000 words. This workshop will combine visual imagery with written words to create a unique artistic expression. We will be using a variety of resources including books, magazines, personal handwriting and hand painted pages, alongside images or other visual elements to arrange pieces made primarily focusing on the written word. We will continue to use various techniques of layering different types of paper material. Everything is provided; all you need is your creative vision.
Collage artist, Erika Vassallo, will lead participants through choice of materials ,composition, use of different adhesives and application techniques. Painting, stamping and stenciling of handcrafted collage papers.
July 12th at 10am – 1:30pm
Please bring $15 to class to cover the materials fee supplied by the instructor.
