Course Description:
Join Lia Kurtin and Angela Schwab for our monthly textile meetups! This month: Mending!
Learn the techniques of visible mending with a demonstration showing creative ways to apply visible stitches, with or without applying a patch. Bring a clothing item that you’d like to mend, or practice the new skill on a provided sample piece.
Build community, learn practical skills, and make new friends as you explore creative ways to reuse, repair, and repurpose textiles. Each session begins with a skill demonstration, followed by time to make or mend together. The focus is on the process —not the finished product— and on learning textile skills we can share and practice as a community. You’re welcome to try the day’s technique, or simply bring along a textile project you’re already working on and enjoy making with fellow textile lovers. In the meantime, save clothes, towels, cloth napkins, and other fabrics that could use a little mending or a new purpose.
