Participants will explore self-expression\, learning how to show their ideas and personal identity using basic collage techniques. Through weekly guided sessions\, we will experiment with various techniques and work with color and composition.  The students will contribute to a community project\, work on individual pieces of art weekly\, and by the end of the workshop create a unique self-portrait with the collage techniques learned. Weekly workshops will include but are not limited to: \n \nWeek 1: Introduction to Collage — Explore styles and famous artists while experimenting with tearing\, cutting\, and arranging materials in a journal. \nWeek 2: Composition Techniques — Learn layering\, scale\, positive/negative space\, and focal points to create cohesive designs. \nWeek 3: Hand-painted Papers — Create custom\, painted collage papers to use in final projects. \nWeek 4: Community Wall Project — Practice techniques by collaging a “brick” for a group display at the Creative Campus. \nWeeks 5 & 6: Birch Panel Self-Portraits — Use personal photos and custom materials to build a personalized 12×12 self-portrait on wood. \nWeek 6: Final week — we’ll finish portraits and present to class with a farewell send-off.

Settle in & dinner at 6pm.\nWe could stop off at Orvieto for a short visit (2hr) on our way to Villa Nobile.\n\nSunday\, September 20 \n\nStay at base & paint in the grounds of Villa Nobile.\nDinner out.\n\nMonday\, September 21 \n\nTravel to Monticchiello\, small quaint hamlet to paint.\nFinis at 4pm to go to Montepulciano winery to sample the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano & dinner at winery.\n\nTuesday\, September 22 \n\nTravel to San Feliciano (Umbria) with views of a 13C* Ruin & Lake Trasimeno. \n\nWednesday\, September 23 \n\nChoice of staying at Villa or go to Castiglione del Lago – Small town overlooking the lake (Umbria).\nIf we stay at Villa \, as many groups prefer it \, we can go to Castiglione del Lag another day.\n\nThursday\, September 24 \n\nOpen Market at Camucia (just below Cortona) great subject to photograph or sketch\, or just enjoy the market.\nThen go up to Cortona to paint Cortona town or the views of the Valdichiana.\n\nFriday\, September 25 \n\nFree day!\nSuggestions are train journeys to Florence\, Or Arezzo\, Or Perugia.These are direct train journeys. \nAdvice to go as a group & hire a taxi to take you to train station. Maybe €10 per head for taxi & depending on where you go with train\, €10 to €25 return.\n\nSaturday\, September 26 \n\nThis is usually a final day at the Villa to catch up on work & preparation for a final critique. This is a method along with one-point perspective that has been around for hundreds of years and even survived the era of Abstract Art! Shading will be covered as well to give a suggestion of 3-D volume. \nNo materials are required. The instructor will provide everything you need. All you are asked to bring is a willingness to experiment! \nBefore the drawing project\, there will be a brief\, engaging slideshow on how the famous artists have used perspective to their advantage. This hands-on class explores the foundations of color mixing and color relationships through practical exercises designed to strengthen confidence and improve painting results.
