SUMMARY:Artist Talk with Moe Scance
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an artist talk by Moe Scance\, a local visual artist whose new exhibit “Based on a True Story\,” showcases twenty new works-on-paper. SUMMARY:Member Reception | Jesse Mathes + Sarah Tenney & Jenna Annunziato
DESCRIPTION:Join us Friday\, September 5\, 2025 from 5-7pm for the Member Reception of The Psychology of Adornment: Wearable Sculpture by Jesse Mathes and Sarah Tenney & Jenna Annunziato. \nThe Psychology of Adornment: Wearable Sculpture by Jesse Mathes\nInspired by the commanding presence of Queen Elizabeth I\, artist Jesse Mathes explores how wearable sculpture can both captivate and protect. This striking series draws on Elizabethan fashion\, natural defense mechanisms\, and architectural forms to examine boundaries\, power\, and beauty. The result is dramatic\, large-scale adornment that challenges perceptions of vulnerability and strength. \nFragile Things by Sarah Tenney & Jenna Annunziato\nPainting in untraditional cut-outs\, Sarah Tenney and Jenna Annunziato explore relationships with others as well as to the things with which we surround ourselves. The pairing reflects the duality between the two artists: one orbiting nostalgia in the forgotten and false divinity; the other exploring connection\, conflict\, and intervention. Besides the shininess\, the commonalities among Annunziato’s objects lie in their value\, or lack thereof. Beautiful and broken objet d’art are portals to memories and counterfeit faith. Tenney steps into allegory using magical realism in her gentle depictions. Animals and people interact in moments fraught with disconnection and the tenuous understanding of others. Altogether this exhibition depicts the fragility of tangible and intangible things that fill the human experience.
