SUMMARY:Artist Demo - Andi Burnum
DESCRIPTION:Look closely—it’s small but mighty! Join us for an exciting artist demo with Andi as she creates a stunning pet portrait using her micron pens. Watch as she skillfully shades a cat\, captured in the same captivating style as her beloved dog portraits. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see her intricate technique in action! \nLocation: Hands On Gallery at Foothills Art Center\, Astor House\, 1133 Arapahoe St \nTime: Drop-in anytime between 1:30 – 5:00pm \nWhile you’re there\, check out Andi’s “A (Handrawn) Dog Show”\, which fills a wall with some of the most locally loved dogs complete with their personality traits! \nArtist Statement.\nI am passionate about creating\, whether it’s a simple mud pie or intricate artwork. The magic of bringing something to life drives my artistic journey. \nInspired by the American West\, my Kansas upbringing immersed me in nature and animals\, shaping my artistic vision. My work blends cherished moments with a quest for semi-realism and detail. \nReflecting on a map by Lewis & Clark that notes “Innumerable Amounts of Buffalo\,” I ponder the history and fauna that shaped my land. Recently\, I’ve embraced the theme of “Imperfectly Imperfect\,” celebrating rough lines and leaving flaws visible\, finding beauty in their authenticity. \nMy creative process begins long before I enter the studio. I carefully consider my subjects\, compositions\, and mediums\, aiming to convey the unique peace I associate with the prairie.

SUMMARY:Contemplative Memoir - February 2026
DESCRIPTION:Contemplative Memoir \nInstructor: Peter Dunne \nStart Date: Wednesday\, February 4\, 2026 \nSchedule: Wednesdays\, February 4\, 11\, 18\, 25\, 2026\, 5:30pm- 7:00pm \nCost: Member $45 / Friend & Non-Member $85 \nSkill Level: All Levels \nLocation: Foothills Art Center – Creative Campus\, 809 15th St \n  \nCourse Description: \nWriting a memoir may be the most challenging and consequential writing we will ever do. We think we know ourselves well enough to write about our lives\, but the effort seems daunting\, and its value dubious. After all\, how do we begin to choose which stories to tell from all the days and years? And who cares? First of all\, no life is ordinary. No life is without miracles and magic\, great loss and great love. And probably no life is more crucial for our children to understand then ours\, because they share more than our genetics\, they share our spiritual DNA. What made us who we are\, helps them see who they can become. In that sense\, we leave them with more than stories. We leave them with meaning and hope.  \n  \n***By registering for this class\, you are signing up to participate during the “Schedule” dates listed above. Please sign up next month if you wish to continue! \n  \nContact: For any questions\, please email Leslie Fitzsimmons at leslie@foothillsartcenter.org. \n  \n***To receive the Member / Open Studio rate – please “login” the upper right- hand corner of this page with the email associated with your membership*** \n  \nPlease Note: Classes and workshops may be cancelled if enrollment minimums are not reached. You will be notified by telephone at least 3 days prior to the scheduled start date should cancellation become necessary.

SUMMARY:Modern Kintsugi - December
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 3 December from 1:30 – 4 pm \nIn person at Foothills Art Center Creative Campus \n \nKintsugi is a 400 year old Japanese art form of the mending of ceramics — creating beauty from brokenness. Kintsugi’s philosophy reflects Japanese culture and teaches us the importance of cherishing and caring for things in our mass consumption society\, and the beauty of brokenness/imperfection in our things and in ourselves. \n \nIn this workshop we will guide a small group through a modern method of this ancient craft. You will see and feel the beauty you have created from the brokenness and reflect on your own life’s journey. All welcome and all materials needed for the experience will be provided. \n \n*NOTE* Each participant will need something broken or chipped to mend. Please do not break anything on purpose; the instructor will provide ceramic tiles for those who need one. \n \n$22 materials fee paid to instructor on day of workshop. \nMembers $100/ Non-Members & Friends $140 \n \n***To receive the member rate – please “login” on the upper right-hand corner of this page with the email associated with your membership***
