DESCRIPTION:During this intensive\, informative\, and upbeat workshop\, you’ll explore your artistic voice and create cold wax and oil paintings that you are proud of! I’ll do several demos throughout the workshop\, and you’ll receive lots of personal instruction to help you work through your paintings\, get “out of your head\,” and move forward in new and exciting ways. All in an encouraging\, nurturing\, and fun environment! \nWe’ll explore multiple techniques\, including:\n– Creating an exciting underpainting with acrylic paints\n– Layering\n– Making multiple textures\n– Mark making\n– Mixing colors that create harmony\n– Stenciling\n– Drawing into and on top of cold wax\n– Glazing with cold wax\n– Masking\n– Creating patterns\n– Editing for clarity\n– Adding the final “jewelry” \nWe’ll also spend lots of time painting and evaluating your creations’ design\, composition\, and value. Additionally\, you’ll get a list of questions to ask yourself to determine if your paintings are finished! DESCRIPTION:Meeting on Tuesday nights\, “Continuing Exploration of the Elements of Art” builds on previous explorations in artistic self-expression. Each night we begin with a review of the previous week’s artwork and works in progress\, followed by an exploration of a specific element of art that helps make for compelling work. The night includes a painting demonstration focused on the specific topic of the week. SUMMARY:Portrait Painting from References
DESCRIPTION:Many times\, we use photographs or artwork we admire as the basis for a portrait painting out of necessity. On Day One of this workshop\, we’ll review the basics of portrait painting in general\, such as proportion\, composition\, and getting the most out of the reference\, then paint the foundation on our canvas or panel. On Day Two\, we bring the portrait to completion in harmony\, color\, and finishing strokes. \nThis is a working experience for acrylic and oil painters. Bring your image resources\, painting surface\, and paints. It is suggested that you have a working understanding of your materials.
