Printing making is transferring an image from a matrix onto another surface. In this class we will explore that transfer process in a very loose and experimental way, using simple tools and techniques that yield surprising results. Think monotypes, collagraphs, gelatin prints, making and using stencils, making and using stamps, found objects, positive and negative shapes.

Join Foothills Art Center for a watercolor paintin

Join Foothills Art Center for a watercolor painting trip to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales region of Great Britain, with Phil Hobbs and Raffaele Nobile of Tuscany in the Frame. We will be painting plein-air in the English countryside, staying the first four nights in the town of Ambleside at The Salutation Hotel and Spa. On the 21st we will move to the Yorkshire Dales region and continue painting in the surrounding area. The last four nights of the trip will be spent at the Black Horse Hotel in Grassington. Flights or other transportation should be arranged to meet on August 17th and depart on August 25th from Manchester, United Kingdom.
Total Trip Cost for Single room: $4,000/ Deposit $2,000
Total Trip Cost for Double room: $3,750/ Deposit $1,750
Space on the trip to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales is very limited (only 12 participants) and will sell out fast! A deposit will be due at the time of the reservation with the remaining balance due in late June 2024.

We are now offering Wheel Throwing Classes on a recurring basis! We’ve got two levels to choose from for classes, so here’s some tips to figure out which class is best for you. You can register from our website in our bio. Just click on “classes”!

ALL LEVELS
This class is designed to be an introduction to throwing pottery on the wheel. It is for beginners or experienced students who want to refresh their skills. The basics of throwing on the wheel will be covered as well as use of equipment, safety and management of materials.

INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED
These classes are designed for experienced wheel-throwing students. Instruction will be in throwing more advanced forms, such as, cylinders, lids, plates and classic forms. Students are also encouraged to explore their own creativity using clay as a medium.

Making Cards is an excellent way to practice watercolor techniques. Then when you are done you may use the image to send for Mother’s Day or any other day. In this class you will learn to paint on a small 5 x 7 card.

HOT ART Basic Encaustic Techniques with @victoriaeubanksart

This is a hands-on two day encaustic workshop. We will start at the beginning with making encaustic medium and encaustic paint, prepping substrates, applying and fusing wax. We will continue with layering translucent and opaque color, adding and reducing texture, masking, stencils, mark making, image transfer techniques and more. All levels welcome, all materials provided with a $25 fee to instructor, bring a sack lunch for Saturday, take art home on Sunday!
